چکیده
Counter-flow double-layered microchannel heat sinks are very effective for thermal control of electronic components; however, they require rather complicated headers and flow maldistribution can also play a negative role. The cross-flow configuration allows much simpler header design the performance becomes similar to that provided by counter-flow arrangement if velocity distribution in microchannels is not uniform. aim this work show possibility achieving favorable sink with an adequate aid additional elements such as full or partial height baffles made solid porous materials. Turbulent RANS numerical simulations field carried out commercial code ANSYS Fluent. layers modeled material, whose properties derived from pressure drop data obtained using in-house FEM code. It demonstrated that, appropriate baffle selection, inlet yield distributions close those would allow optimal hotspot management devices.

Numerical Optimization of Trapezoidal Microchannel Heat Sinks
This study presents the numerical simulation of three-dimensional incompressible steady and laminar fluid flow and conjugate heat transfer of a trapezoidal microchannel heat sink using water as a cooling fluid in a silicon substrate. Navier-Stokes equations with conjugate energy equation are discretized by finite-volume method. We perform numerical computations for a range of 50 Re 600, 0.05W ...
متن کاملSingle-Phase Flow and Heat Transport and Pumping Considerations in Microchannel Heat Sinks
Microchannel heat sinks are widely regarded as being amongst the most effective heat removal techniques from space-constrained electronic devices. However, the fluid flow and heat transfer in microchannels is not fully understood. The pumping requirements for flow through microchannels are also very high and none of the micropumps in the literature are truly suitable for this application. Resul...
متن کاملMeasurement and Visualization of R410A Distribution in the Vertical Header of the Microchannel Heat Exchanger
This paper presents the refrigerant adiabatic upward flow in the vertical header of microchannel heat exchanger and its effect on distribution. R410A is circulated into the header through the microchannel tubes (5 or 10 tubes) in the bottom pass and exits through tubes (5 or 10 tubes) in the top pass representing flow in the heat pump mode of reversible systems. Three circular headers were expl...
متن کاملMulti-objective optimization of nanofluid flow in microchannel heat sinks with triangular ribs using CFD and genetic algorithms
Abstract In this paper, multi-objective optimization (MOO) of Al2O3-water nanofluid flow in microchannel heat sinks (MCHS) with triangular ribs is performed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithms (NSGA II). At first, nanofluid flow is solved numerically in various MCHS with triangular ribs using CFD techniques. Finally, the CFD data will...
